With an emphasis on personal service and intimacy, Victorian-style furnishings, garden landscaping, hearty breakfast, wine in the afternoons, and a small gift shop near the lobby make old-fashioned Ashland experience complete. Should be sure to eat in this classy dining establishment for dinner which serves fresh Oregon fruits, vegetables, and Pacific northwest seafood, poultry and meats. Good place for families with well-behaved children.

Rogue Regency Inn
Interstate 5/off Biddle Road
Medford
541/770-1234
www.rogueregency.com

Daily room rates: $105 and up
Details: Got babies? This inn is in perfect tune with family needs with the three essential hotel features necessary for parent survival on a vacation: in-room microwave, refrigerator, swimming pool. And yes, the built-in continental breakfast plan is also a reason to cheer. We stayed 3 nights at this practical and convenient location. Only about 30 minutes away from downtown Ashland, the Rogue Regency passed our family sturdiness test with flying colors. We had a reunion of four clans stay here this past August, and we enjoyed having adjoining hotel rooms and making a ruckus in the indoor pool. For parents, there is a workout room as well. Rooms are nicely (not overly) decorated, clean, and comfortable. It reminds me of a swell Holiday Inn or Hampton Inn.
