We Love This Stuff
Made from reclaimed plastic bottles, a new company called Wayre has invented a new type of travel clothing for women, designed to look appealing on all females no matter the size. The innovation comes from eco-friendly manufacturing and a Like-Silk fabric. Each piece of Wayre spill-proof, UV & wrinkle resistant, and features 4-way stretch without any harmful chemicals and it’s all sustainably derived.
Wayre makes packing super easy and takes all the stress out of experiencing the world. According to its founder, Rachael Kemp, “the collection is body-positive and offers inclusive sizing ranging from XXS-3X.”
We tried one of the Wayre pair of shorts ($69) which fits just right and is very comfortable with a silk-like feel. With a stretchy waistband, it is perfect for the gym or for the running trail. And it features a zipper pocket on the side and an inner, secret pocket within. For me, I wish it came in a longer, Bermuda-style length, but that can come in the future. Washing it is easy as all you have to do is wash in cold water and hang to dry.
It’s a Kickstarter project, so think about supporting this young entrepreneur’s vision. See https://www.shopwayre.com/products/the-flow-short for details. https://www.shopwayre.com/products/the-flow-short
Enter www.thegrommet.com, an online gift shop, which takes the sting of what to get folks for their birthdays. The site has practical solutions to everyday problems. First up is the Gear Beast Smartphone Lanyard made of silicone and stretches to fit most smartphones. I was hesitant about wearing a cell phone around my neck, but when you are travelling, and you want easy access to your phone to take photos, this thing is a charm. Athletes who ski say it is an awesome way to ensure your phone won’t fall out of your pocket on the lifts and slopes. Elderly with walkers say the lanyard is more convenient so their hands are free to use their walkers en route to their destinations. The lightweight silicone lanyard opens up to fit your cellphone and has a grippy feel so that you are not worried about losing it. When you don’t want it around your neck, you can use the metal clip and turn it into a wristlet. You can also clip it to your purse. Since it’s been introduced into the market, customers have raved about this little lifesaver. When the thing gets a little gummy, you can take it off your phone and wash it with soap and warm water. A good buy at $9.95.
Next, the travel chess set is just the ticket when you want to keep your brain entertained while on the road. This felt set is sturdy, and the pieces are tucked away in a neat little zipper pocket in the roll up set. For chess lovers like my father who was cutting out papers to make his own chess set, this one is the Cadillac of portable chess sets. When you get tired of chess, you can flip the pieces over and play checkers. It’s that easy. Made of leather on the outside and a nice suede for the inside playing surface, the item measures 14 x 10 inches, when rolled out. When it is rolled up, it’s about the size of a portable umbrella you can stash in your backpack. I’d call it a great, high-quality gift that is designed in Germany and produced in China. Called the Roll Up Travel Chess Set, it sells online for $39.95.
